Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the wildly popular "Squid Game" TV show, said he isn't rich despite the program's success.
He told The Guardian that, compared to the 4.6 billion won ($36 million) that the winner of the dystopian game the winner gets in his creation: "I'm not that rich."
"But I do have enough. I have enough to put food on the table. And it's not like Netflix is paying me a bonus. Netflix paid me according to the original contract."

The streaming giant added nearly 4.4 million subscribers during the quarter, which was above their forecast of 3.5 million new memberships.
Overall, the company forecast it would hit 212.68 million subscribers in the third quarter of 2021, which would have represented year over year grown of 9%. Netflix closed the second quarter with 209.18 million global streaming paid memberships, or 8.4% growth year over year growth.

The eight-digit number in "Squid Game" exactly matches the mobile number of an unnamed Korean businessman in his 40s, who said he's been receiving a barrage of calls from people who "wanted to be in the game." He gets 4,000 calls a day, and now needs medication to sleep, he told local media.

Netflix has hired PepsiCo’s Sergio Ezama as the streamer’s next chief talent officer, a company spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Friday.
Ezama will begin at Netflix in mid-September after serving as PepsiCo’s global chief talent officer and chief human resources officer. At the streaming company, Ezama will begin remotely from New York but will ultimately work out of Netflix’s multiple global offices.

Netflix is expanding its vaccination mandate.
The streamer will require that workers at its offices be vaccinated for COVID-19,The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. That includes its Los Gatos, California, headquarters, where visitors also have to show proof of vaccination, as well as the Sunset Blvd. location in Los Angeles. Variety first reported the news.
The highly anticipated Netflix action flick — starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds — is "the biggest movie Netflix has ever done," according to Seven Bucks Productions' President of Production, Hiram Garcia, who's a producer on the film.
"Red Notice is such a fun film! It's the biggest movie Netflix has ever done and they were incredible partners making sure we had everything we needed to finish the movie in the middle of a pandemic," Garcia said in an interview with Collider, published Wednesday.

Netflix is making the COVID-19 vaccine mandatory for U.S. productions, becoming the first major studio to set a vaccination policy.
