                    🍱  Why should we eat with our fingers? 

Eating with fingers has been lately been looked down upon -considered not very sophisticated or suave. Esp. at restaurants people even eat pizzas with a fork and knife!! However, eating with the fingers has multiple benefits - some very obvious and some not very obvious.

1. Our bodies are made up of 5 elements/pranas - so is everything in Universe - these are - Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Ether/Space. They are represented by the 5 fingers (see image below). It is believed that these five elements energize the food, cleansing it of any negative vibes and preparing it for us to eat. These elements ensure the food we eat becomes healthy for the body and keeps our pranas well balanced. These are the representations of the elements:
β€’ Thumb: Fire
β€’ Index finger: Air
β€’ Middle finger: Space/Ether
β€’ Ring finger: Earth
β€’ Little finger: Water
The prana coming from our fingers mixes with the food making it easier to digest and acceptable to our body.

2. The fingers, when touch the food, send signals to the brain and digestive system about the texture of the food – the hardness, softness, consistency etc. and thus the system prepares itself to digest the food accordingly. The required type of digestive juices and enzymes are released. When we eat with spoon or fork this messaging is lost – the body is not prepared for what is going to come in!

3. Our hands also act as a very effective temperature sensor. When we touch food it is easy for us to gauge how hot it actually is, and we are less likely to put food that is too hot into our mouth – effectively preventing us from scalding our tongue.

4. Promotes mindful eating. When we eat with our hands, we focus on the quantity of food and we are more aware of how much food we are putting in our mouths and thus we enjoy the food and the process of eating much more vs eating with cutlery. Mindless eating is a huge problem and one of the biggest cause of overweight, obesity, indigestion etc.

Traditionally even dals and sambars were eaten with fingers. Eating food with fingers makes it tastier and much more palatable. So forget fashion, think of health! Eat with your fingers!
                    This is why when you wake up late you feel a certain sense of malaise throughout the day ☝️
                    🌞Why wake up at the Brahma Muhurta 🌞

1) KRISHNA, The Supreme Personality of Godhead – 1970 Edition : Volume 2 : KB 2-15 / Lord KRSNA's Daily Activities : 

By nature's arrangement the crowing of the cocks warns of the brahma-muhurta hour. There is no need of alarm clocks; as soon as the cocks crow early in the morning, it is to be understood that it is time to rise from bed. 

2) Prabhupada: One who cannot rise early in the morning, he is not spiritually serious. That is test. Brahma-muhurta, this hour, one hour before sunrise, is very auspicious moment.

3) KRISHNA, The Supreme Personality of Godhead 
 Daily Activities : 

We have to meditate upon Krishna, Radha-Krishna. That is real meditation, Krishna is Krishna Himself; therefore He was teaching us that brahma-muhurta should be utilized for meditation on Radha-Krishna. 

By doing so, Krishna would feel very much satisfied, and similarly we will also feel transcendentally pleased and satisfied if we utilize the brahma-muhurta period to meditate on Radha and Krishna…

4) Sri Caitanya-caritamrta – 1975 Edition : Cc. Madhya-lila : Madhya 24: The Sixty-One Explanations of the Atmarama Verse : Madhya 24.331 : Purport: 

diksayah karanam kintu sveccha-prapte tu sad-gurau : 

In the early morning hours (known as brahma-muhurta) one should get up and immediately chant the Hare Krishna mantra, or, at least, "Krishna, Krishna, Krishna." In this way, one should remember Krishna. 

Some shlokas or prayers should also be chanted. By chanting, one immediately becomes auspicious and transcendental to the infection of material qualities. 

Actually one has to chant and remember Lord Krishna twenty-four hours daily, or as much as possible. 

5) Visvanatha Cakravarthi Thankura mentions: one who with great care and attention loudly recites this beautiful prayer (gurav astaka) to the spiritual master during brahma-muhurta obtains direct service to Krishna the Lord of Vrindavana at the time of his death.

Ayurvedic doctor (kaviraj) explains that if we rise at brahma muhurta time every day, then we get the full benefit of  certain cosmic planetary vibrations or rays which increases the ojas in our bodies, the pranic energy which sustains healthy life.

Ayurveda is the most scientific and complete body of information on this planet regarding health. And It is just one section of the Vedas. 

Veda means knowledge, and that knowledge of healthy living is necessary for happiness.

Obviously, these times are not exact and merely display the general pattern of the circadian rhythm. The exact times of your circadian rhythm will vary based on daylight, your habits, and other factors.
